Queen Elizabeth I was Queen of England and Ireland from 1558 to 1603. She’s remembered today mostly for two competing sobriquets: her own, “the Virgin Queen”, and her sister’s, “Bloody Mary”. Both of these sobriquets are misleading. The first is a simple change of definition. Queen Elizabeth was the Virgin Queen because she never married, not because she never had sex. Nobody in 16th century England was going around publicly speculating about whether Queen Elizabeth had sex with anyone, at least not anyone who wanted to keep their head
The same issue seems to exist around slavery. Historical slaves have been given a voice for political reasons. Real-live child slaves, working in cocoa plantations today, get swept under the rug at every opportunity.
Huh. In those sorts of games, I tend to do two runs. In the first I'll go maximally evil / conqueror type, and then on the second I'll crank up the difficulty settings and try to embody my real-world ethical principals. I absolutely would not rob an NPC, even if I thought the game's systems would let me get away with it if I did it sneakily, because NOT exploiting that kind of quirk in the system is part of "hard mode" for me.
You mentioned it. I have to replay it. Such is the law.
